The things of real value in my life...

...have not been things at all?

I feel like making a gratitude list. I might expand on this, make it longer someday, but for now, for today, here are the things I thank my higher power for today.....

1. My children.

My children are the most important "things" in my life. I'm so grateful to have Shawna back in my life (that's a long story you might never hear about, but who knows). And this pregnancy (hers, not mine! LOL) is the best thing that could have happened to us to bring us closer. Dayle is my world. I live and breathe for her (just don't tell her that!!!), she saved my life so many times. She brings me joy and she is living the life I always wished I could have had. Nicolas, I've come to believe, has been a blessing. Don't get me wrong, I'd trade just about everything I own to have him back (Nick died of SIDS in 1994 when he was 9 weeks old), but if he hadn't died, my life would be so completely different right now.

2. My "extended children"

I am lucky enough to have two other "children" in my life these days. Michaela, a friend of Dayle's, has been living with us for over a year now. She's a terrific young woman and I enjoy having her around. And Justin, my son-in-law (whose ass I'm going to kick if he doesn't grow up and get a job so he can take care of my daughter and my soon-to-be-born grandson!!!)

3. My husband

What a wonderful, kind, sweet-hearted, loving, giving, talented, smart, funny, adorable man he is and how lucky am *I* that he wants to be married to me!!!

4. My soon-to-be-born Grandson!
I can't wait to be a grandmother. well, actually, I won't be "Grandma" to him, he will have 6 grandmothers when he's born. I need to be different. So we decided I am Nana. I like Nana. I'll be his one and only Nana. Now THAT is something to be grateful for!!!
